Ethan Manning is a small businessman, farmer, and President of the Miami County Council.

Born in Peru and raised near Macy on a family farm, Ethan has been involved in the community and at the state level in many different ways. A graduate of North Miami High School, Ethan was involved with FFA as a two-term chapter president and involved with several projects in Miami County 4-H. His family farm, Manning Cattle Company, raises commercial beef cattle. Ethan is an Associate Broker with Carriger Oldfather Realty in Peru, where he has been a multi-million dollar producer each year and works with buyers and sellers of residential, commercial, and agricultural property. Ethan owns and manages several residential rental properties in Miami County. Ethan also owns Manning Auctions.

In 2014, Ethan was elected to the Miami County Council and in 2017 he was elected by his peers to serve as President of the County Council. He was again elected as President of the Council in January of 2018. In his role as Council President, Ethan serves on the Miami County Economic Development Elected Officials Council, is Chairman of the Miami County Budget Committee and the Incentive Review Committee, and has served on the Miami County Plan Commission and Purdue Extension Advisory Board.

As a member of the County Council, Ethan has been involved with the Association of Indiana Counties. He serves as a member of the AIC Legislative Committee and as the Chairman of the Indiana County Councils Association Legislative Committee. In these roles, he works with other county officials from across the state to advocate for policies that help local governments operate more efficiently and effectively.

In 2015, Ethan was appointed by now Vice-President Mike Pence to serve on the Indiana State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers. Ethan is now the President of that board and works with fellow members to administer licensing for the 12,000 Professional Engineers registered in Indiana. Ethan also holds 2 professional licenses himself as a Real Estate Broker and Auctioneer.

Ethan has also been involved in the community and state in other ways: he is a member of the Miami County Chamber of Commerce, Miami County Farm Bureau, the Realtor’s Association of Central Indiana, the North Miami FFA Ag Advisory Committee, Indiana Beef Cattle Association, and a member of the Peru-Miami Masonic Lodge #67. He is a past member of the Miami County 4-H Fairboard. Ethan enjoys regularly bid-calling at auctions for charitable causes and clubs to help raise money, such as the Miami County 4-H Fair Livestock Auction, All Saints Catholic Parish Missions Fundraiser in Logansport, North Miami FFA Labor Auction, Country Friends Extension Homemakers Club, Miami County Ham Radio Club, and more.
